Project Description
NEED TO TALK TO US ABOUT A DEMOLITION PROJECT?
The Former Moorside Primary School
Project Scope:
Asbestos removal, soft strip and demolition of a victorian primary school. The site was adjacent to the new primary school which had an intake of over 250 children and various residential properties. The school consisted of ten classrooms, a swimming pool, two halls, kitchens and various out buildings.
Project Constraints & Challenges:
The site was located adjacent to the new primary school so school pick up and collection times were avoided to eliminate any further disturbance whilst demolishing the old school.
Due to the close proximity of the neighbouring properties vibration and dust monitoring was essential.
The rear of the site is adjacent to a rugby club.
The site had been vandalised for years and was left in an unsafe condition.
We worked with an ecologist in regards to the protected species found on site.
Achievements:
No environmental impact complaints for noise or dust.
No programme delays.
Successful installation of hoarding on a busy pedestrian highway surrounded by live services.
Successful traffic management systems.
The project was delivered on time and on budget.
